How it works?

What is Remote Online Notarization?

Remote Online Notarization is a way of performing a notarial act via a secure remote online platform using audio-visual technology, without the need for physical presence.

What are the RON requirements?

Device Requirements

The RON signing can be done on a computer, tablet, or smartphone with high-speed internet connection, video and microphone capabilities, and a browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

Credential Analysis & ID Verification

Signers must possess a valid social security number and a government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license, passport, or state identification card. If the signer is not a US Citizen or does not have proper ID, a credible witness can be substituted to identify the signer

KBA (knowledge-based authentication) Questions

Signers must answer 4 out of 5 KBA questions correctly within a 2 minute time period. Signers can attempt the KBA questions twice, however, if the signer fails the KBA questions the 2nd time, the RON session will end and the signer will be unable to continue.
